Warrior Day 1 Access

Welcome to the Warrior Day 1 Access program, designed to lower costs and provide course materials by the first day of class, ensuring students have the resources they need to succeed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How it works

After faculty members select the course material for their courses, the Wayne State Bookstore partners with publishers to negotiate a discounted price.

When a student registers for a class that utilizes the program, the course material charge is included in the student’s tuition and fees.

Students will receive a message in their Wayne State email (Ex. name@wayne.edu) from the bookstore before the term starts with additional details about their Warrior Day 1 Access classes or the following day if they register later for classes.

Most digital materials are made available to students on or before the first day of class via Canvas, but some publishers vary. Physical items can be obtained from the campus bookstore or by using the link within the email to select shipping (additional cost).

Benefits for Students:

  • Offers course materials at a lower cost than traditional methods

  • Materials are included in the cost of student tuition and fees, saving the student time from shopping for required materials

  • Access to course materials on the first day of class, increasing their ability to prepare and engage in their studies

  • Ability to pay for materials using financial aid or payment plans (available for limited time each term)
  • Increased success rates and improved academic performance due to timely and easy access to course materials

What does “opting out" mean?

If, for any reason, you decide that you do not wish to participate in this cost-saving program, then you can opt out by course material. However, you will still need to obtain the required course materials through other means, such as purchasing or renting elsewhere.

How do I opt out of the Warrior Day 1 Access?

To opt out, you must log into Canvas, go to the course material you wish to opt out of, and select the box “Want to Opt Out” before the 100% refund period ends. You must repeat this process separately for each course material included in the Warrior Day 1 Access program.

Your access to the materials will be disabled soon after the opt-out deadline for your course, and your opt-out credit will be posted to your student account within three to five business days.

Students will be charged for materials if they:

  • drop the class after the 100% refund period
  • do not return physical textbooks to the campus store or postmark shipped returns within the 100% refund period

Do I still need to opt out if I drop a course?

No. If you have already dropped the course before the end of the 100% refund period, you will automatically be opted out of the Warrior Day 1 Access program and will not be charged.

Students will be charged for materials if they:
